On March 29, the Xianxialing No. 2 Tunnel on the Quzhou–Songyang section of the Quzhou–Lishui Railway, constructed by China Railway No.2 Group under CREC, was successfully completed, becoming the first long tunnel to be fully bored through on this section.

The Xianxialing No. 2 Tunnel is located in Suichang County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, with a total length of 6,753.37 meters. The tunnel passes through 34 fault zones, 15 lithological contact zones, 19 joint-intensive zones, and multiple shallow-buried sections, posing high construction risks and significant organizational challenges.

In response to the complex and variable geological conditions, including granite and tuff formations, China Railway No.2 Group applied energy-concentrated blasting techniques to strictly control the quality and safety of smooth blasting operations, thereby enhancing blasting performance and accelerating excavation progress. Advanced tunneling equipment and construction techniques were also widely adopted, significantly improving construction efficiency and quality.
The Quzhou–Lishui Railway runs from Quzhou in the west to Lishui in the east, with a total length of 160.1 kilometers. The Quzhou–Songyang section spans 94.82 kilometers and includes four stations—Qujiang, Longyou, Suichang West, and Songyang—with a design speed of 200 km/h. Once completed and operational, travel time between Quzhou and Lishui will be reduced from nearly 1.5 hours to approximately 55 minutes. The railway will establish a convenient transportation corridor linking central and southwestern China via Quzhou to Lishui and Wenzhou, significantly improving regional transport conditions, boosting tourism, and supporting high-quality development and the advancement of common prosperity demonstration zones along the route.
